My journey in healthcare was influenced greatly by growing up on alarge dairy farm near Mt. Rainier with fruit vegetable gardens, aswell as hundreds of grass fed cows, chickens & pigs. I am the Founderand Executive Director Emerita of Harmony Hill Retreat Center.Harmony Hill is a retreat center located about two hours west ofSeattle, on 12 acres of beautiful grounds overlooking Hood Canal andthe Olympic Mountains. I am a Family Nurse Practitioner, a formerUniv. of Washington Assistant Professor, and was one of the firstNurse Practitioners in WA practicing at a rural health clinic in theCascade Mountains. As part of my first decade in Union whileHarmony Hill was starting I was a volunteer on the local Fire Department and helped start a critical incident debriefing team. Our residential cancer support program is at the heart of Harmony Hill’s mission and now serves more than 1200 people a year. We have had continuing education programs for nurses and were honored that Barbara & Susan could be with us. In my free time, I joyfully spend in the Harmony Hill gardens with much focus on our incredibly beautiful dahlias, zinnias, abundant organic vegetables, new aquaponic system in our greenhouse, as well as helping build a third labyrinth. I enjoy music, reading, cooking, walking and annually co-facilitate a pilgrimage retreat to the sacred healing Isle of Iona, Scotland.
