American Nurses Association’s (ANA) HEALTHY NURSE HEALTHY NATION
On May 28, 2015, in Washington, D. C., Barbara Dossey, PHD, RN, AHN-BC, FAAN, HWNC-BC, (INCA Co-Director and INCCP Core Faculty) was one of 30 participants invited to participate in the foundational design meeting of the American Nurses Association’s (ANA) HEALTHY NURSE GRAND CHALLENGE, being championed by Dr. Marla Weston, PhD, RN, FAAN, ANA CEO, and the entire ANA Executive Leadership Team. On the ANA team is INC graduate Harpreet Gujral, RN, MSN, FNP-BC, in the ANA Department of Nursing Practice and Work Environment. Barbara was one of four presenters invited to speak on “Nurses and Behavioral Change.”
The ANA will officially launch the Healthy Nurse Grand Challenge in January 2016. The goal is to increase the personal wellness of 3.1 million registered nurses and by extension members of their family, community, co-workers and patients. A grand challenge is a bold, audacious goal, which through its achievement makes enormous social contribution. The ANA views its role in society as significant, making many such contributions through its unique and most valuable resource: America’s nurses. The vision is for improving the health of our nation by improving the health of nurses.
