Nurse Coaching Book Review from An Expert Nurse Theorist

Posted Under: INCA Blog

I just read AHNA’s Beginnings on Nurse Coaching. Your article stood out like a brilliant light. Why? As you of course know, your emphasis on theory separated your article from the others. The Theory of Integrative Nurse Coaching briefly illustrates what your version of nurse coaching is—nurse coaching through a theoretical nursing lens. It points readers to the ANA published The Art and Science of Nurse Coaching: The Provider’s Guide to Coaching Scope and Competencies (2013). Your Nurse Coaching: Integrative Approaches for Health and Wellbeing (2015) will certainly win a Book of the Year Award. It is especially interesting to me how definitions are spelled out in the beginning of the chapters. Also, the neologism “collaboratory” is fascinating. I am fearful that we will not reach a healthy world by 2020 as proposed in the Nightingale Declaration, but if your book is translated into all the major languages of the world, it will make a huge impact toward actualizing that intention. I am sincere when I am praising your book. It is comprehensive and practical as it seems to cover the most important aspects of nursing and of life. Keep up your great work—nursing needs it! .
